West Lake is Hangzhou's top tourist attraction, renowned for panoramic natural scenery, weeping willow trees, showy flowering trees, rockeries, and ancient stone bridges. It covers an area of 6 square kilometres and is dotted with some of Hangzhou's most famous historic and scenic attractions. The area is covered with historical pagodas, cultural sites, and beautiful hills.
The lake is divided by three causeways called Sudi Causeway (Sugongdi, 苏堤), Baidi Causeway (Baigong Di, 白堤), and Yanggong Di (杨公堤).
