China Central Television Station (CCTV) built this filming studio to film the 84-episode of "Romance of Three Kingdoms" in 1987. Since then, more than 20 TV shows (including Concubine Yang) have been taped here. It is one of the earliest movie and TV program production bases in China. Three Kingdoms City is located at the southwest corner of Wuxi City at the foot hills of 山军嶂 and at the bank of Taihu Lake (太湖), and covers an area of 86 acres.
Tourists can visit the Cao Amy Camp, castles on water, warships, the palaces of Kingdom Wu and Ganlu (sweet dew) Temple. Film and TV shows, like the Liu Bei's Wedding Ceremony.
Three Kingdoms City, along with a Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) Village, a European style Village and an Asian Village forms the Taihu Lake Film and TV Studio Town. The Tang Village, opened to tourists in 1991, was originally built to film TV series "Emperor Tang Ming Huang". It covers an area of 32 acres and has almost one hundred scenic spots, among which the Tang Dynasty-style palaces and streets, Scent-Sunk Pavilion, Lishan Mountain Attic and Huaqing Hot Spring are the most famous. Tourists can also enjoy the Tang palace etiquette and dance show here.
The European Village is at the other side of Taihu Lake with almost the same size as the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) Village (about 32 acres). It has a total of 6 scenery zones and over 30 scenic spots including the French Arch of Triumph, British Gardens, a Spanish Bullfight Arena, Saint Mark Square, Florence's Aristocratic Square.
