Following your threads

How do you follow threads that you have contributed to?

Does your software have a button you can click to see who has replied to your own posts/replies?

Thanks!

RE: Following your threads

Hi Eric
Thank for your concern!
There is "FIND" button on each thread and reply,if you click it ,you can follow
all the threads or replays of the user who post the threads. Also you can find all the threads that you have contributed to by this way!

Hi Liuxin,

Thanks for your reply!

I don't think this is quite what I was asking about.

Let's suppose this site becomes much more active soon.
Let's further suppose that I am participating in 7 or 8 different threads in different forums.

I wouldn't be able to remember each forum and each thread that I was participating in.
This is where a "Follow your threads" button would be very handy!

You just click on the button at the top of the Forums page and All of your threads are displayed on one page. You glance to the right of each thread and you can immediately see who was the LAST poster. If your name is there, that means that no one has replied to your last post. Very simple.

Do you have this feature somewhere here?

Thanks!

Eric

RE: Following your threads

Hi Liuxin,

I just made a few more posts and clicked on the Find button now to see what would happen.

It's very close to having the feature that I'm looking for.
Yes it lists all the posts that I have made in different Forums.

But I can't see who was the last poster in each thread!

If you can add a column that tells you who was the last poster that would be a great help for everyone! Because then you would know if you have to look at the thread or not.

Thanks!

Eric

Eric. Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Here is a quick screen mock-up (showing red for the new feature). Does it look like similar to your suggestion?

Yes Jay that would be perfect!
If you could implement that, I'm sure most members here would be very appreciative.

Best,

Eric

Eric,

Looking back, I think you (like all of us) are not really interested in who's the last poster of the thread.
We are interested if someone has responded to our post. Last poster does not necessarily mean someone has responded to our post, it may be a response to someone else's post on the same thread.
Click on the thread mode button (default is linear mode). You see what I mean.

Anyway, we are working on displaying the poster who responded to the post.

Thanks.

Jay

Hi Jay,

Well technically you are correct. We aren't really interested in who the specific person is who responded to the thread that we are involved in.

But as long as you mention who was the last poster, that would really do the trick.

I just checked how this feature is implemented on another favourite site of mine.
They simply state who the last poster was in the thread. That is sufficient.
The page lists all the threads I am involved in, in chronological order, with the most recent one at the top.

If we have contributed recently to a thread we will remember which ones are important to us. Just seeing someone else's name as the poster will be enough for us to realise that there was activity. This is where the date comes in handy.

For example. If we see someone's name as the last poster, and the date isn't fresh, it's a week old, we can assume that we have already checked the thread. But if we weren't sure we can still check it. For threads that are really important to us we will remember which ones we checked.

So really, last poster would be sufficient with the date/time of the post.

Eric

By the way, the "recent posts" blurb can be viewed from the main page soon. This is outside of the forum, but can make the posts more visible to people not aware of the activities on the forum.
