Chinese bank issues Platinum Card in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Bank of China (BOC), one of the largest banks in China, and China Unionpay (CUP), the only National Bankcard Association in China, jointly unveiled the BOC Great Wall CUP Platinum Card following both sides inked a global partnership agreement here on Thursday.

this card will provide a greater ease of payment convenience to Singaporeans who travel frequently to China for business or leisure as well as setting the benchmark for the expansion of CUP card in the global card business,

This is the first Singapore dollar denominated CUP Credit Card to be launched in Singapore and will provide recognition and convenience of card payments, with associated discounts and privileges, for the thousands of travelers and businessmen who travel frequently to the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau.

The artwork featured on Zijin Hao's fuselage depicts a red peony and some twigs and offshoots, and is a reproduction of the artistic logo of the Forbidden Pavilion First Class.
The A330-200 jumbo jet, with its ergonomic seat features, take its maiden flight, to Hangzhou, on October 4, and will be used for Air China's flights to Rome, Vancouver and Paris, and certain domestic routes.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - After China's National Day "golden week" holiday which fell on September 29 for seven days, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MOTC) said that only 76 Chinese tourists visited Taiwan last Saturday. During the seven days of China's "golden week" holiday this year, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Taiwan hit a record low of 18 per day. The number of Chinese visitors hit a record high of a thousand people per day, but the number declined sharply to only 76 visitors last Saturday.

TAIPEI (Reuters) - China and Taiwan are negotiating new direct flight routes that could add up to six Chinese cities and cut travel times, padding out a landmark deal in June that has fallen short of expectations, an official said on Tuesday.

Under China-friendly Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou, the two sides agreed in June to begin charter flights from Friday through Monday, allowing easier passage for Taiwan investors and tourists, who previously had to transit in Hong Kong or Macau.

Hong Kong visitor arrivals from Mainland China during this year’s National Day Golden Week holidays (29 September to 5 October) reached 481,987, an impressive 9.5% more than that of the equivalent period (1-7 October) last year.

Out of the total Mainland arrivals during the Golden Week, 70% or 336,441 arrived under the Individual Visit Scheme, 14% more than last year. The number of visitors joining group tours to Hong Kong also increased by 24.7% to 30,007.
