| Short Description: | On the both sides of basin of Hongping Valley are strange peaks. Bright mountain flowers in full bloom in spring, woods and forests that glow with autumn tints and brooks and springs stream in autumn. Meander in level ground, you can enjoy the wonderful sights which look like drop traditional Chinese painting, and scenery in four seasons is different from each other, therefore, artists called it “Hongping Gallery”. |

Hongping Scenic Area is located in Shennongjia nature protection area of Hubei Province. Shennongjia is south of Tianmenya. Hongping Natural Gallery is another name of Hongping Scenic Area, which is a small valley area with the length of 15 kilometers; the long valley sided by crags and peaks on both sides. It was praised as a natural gallery with pictures on every step. There are countless of wild flowers dotted around the waterfalls, pools, caves and streams and beautiful scenes that attracted many famous artists, hence the name “Hongping Gallery”.
This place comprised of one river, two brooks, three waterfalls, four bridges, five deep pools, six caves, seven towers, eight strongholds, nine stones and 36 peaks, mutually complementing each other where the layout is compact and is interesting in the sense of seemingly moving and changing sceneries. The scenic spots here comprised of one wonderful, two strange, three dangerous and four elegant. “Wonderful” refers to the high peaks standing; “strange” refers to the cave stones’ strangeness. “Danger” refers to the stronghold and range that is dangerous. “Elegant” refers to the river, waterfall and bridge built together.

Go around: There are regular buses at the gate of Wuhan Office after 5:00 every day to Shengnongjia; if missed regular bus, you can charter minibus, the fare is 200 RMB per day.

- 1. Because of big forest, inconvenient traffic, and some place is not to be opened to tourists; you’d better lead by guard in order to avoid getting lost.
- 2. You’d better wear hat, long sleeve suits and trousers and constrict the cuff and the bottom of trousers, and put on boot, in order to prevent biting from poison worm and snakes.
- 3. If encounter the rainstorm, you have to recognize direction, and find an open level ground, in this way, you are not get lost, nor strike by lightning.
- 4. Requirement: airproof container (pack match and raincoat), protective glasses, knife, rope and compass.

Shennongjia is suit to travel in four seasons, and enjoy alp azaleas and spring scenery in spring, summer holiday and leisure in summer, have a picnic in golden autumn, snow world in winter. In any season, you will be amazed at the Shennongjia. The best time for traveling Hongping Scenic Area is June to October.
