[edit] Description
Known for its cool weather and an ideal getaway for summer vacations, Lushan mountain is one of top 10 mountains in China. It is a UNESCO designated world-heritage site, as well as one of the AAAAA key tourism scenic spots in China.
Lushan Mountain is located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, on the Poyang Lake Basin. It has an ellipse-shaped footprint with a length of 25 kilometers and width of 10 kilometers. The grand and magnificent Lushan Mountain is home to 16 natural wonders, 474 scenic spots and 171 peaks, among which Dahanyang Peak is the highest peak with an altitude of 1474 meters.
Lushan mountain abounds in historic and cultural relics. Many historical events happened here. In modern history, it was once the summer capital of Nanjing Nationalist Government in 1930s. IN 1937, it became the meeting place where Zhou Enlai, representing the Communist Party, negotiated with Jiang Kai-shek of the Nationalist Party, to unite and fight against the Japanese invaders. After 1949 when Communist Party took over the mainland China, several important central government meetings took place here.
