Liugong Island is located in Weihai Bay, in the east end of Huanghai coast, length from the west end to the east end is 4.08 km, while largest width in north-south direction is 1.5 km, is 2.1 sea miles from the urban area of Weihai. The highest Qiding Mountain is 153.5 meters above sea level.
Liugong Island is not only a forest park but also a beautiful island attracting visitors for its moving history during war time in old days. It is honored as the fairyland on sea. On the island there are ranges of thickly forested mountains, the coverage of the forest is up to 87%. In 1992 the state forestry department publicized it as the state forestry garden. It is cool in summer and warm in winter with fresh air and favorable climate. The average air temperature in a year is around 12°C. All of the conditions endowed the area an ideal place for holiday, recuperation, summer.
Liugong Island is rich and unique in cultural relics. There are not only site of the Warring State period, but office of the north sea military in Qing dynasty, military school, ancient emplacement, etc.. There are numerous architectures in Europe style from the British colonization period. Main sights contain Liugong Island national Forest Park, Liugong Island Exposition Park and Jiawu war museum and so on.

Go around: take a boat to the scenic area at Weihai tourist dock; Liugong Island has one scheduled boat to Shantou, Hailv Island at 11：00, return at 18：00, the return ticket is ￥100, including one dinner.

Weihai is located in the temperate zone, its special geographic position and regulation of ocean and mountain forest makes the feature of marine climate. Its annual average temperature is 12℃ and precipitation is over 800 millimeters. Here has neither hot summer nor chilly winter. It is suitable for traveling the whole year and the best traveling time is summer.
