Lake Baiyangdian is located 45 kilometers to the east of Baoding City. With a total area of 336 square kilometers, it is the largest fresh water lake in North China.
Lake Baiyangdian is one of the top tourist attractions known for its unique water scenes and vast lotus gardens. It consists of 36 villages, 8000 hectors of bulrush and 146 smaller inter-connecting lakes.
The lake is home to a wide varieties of fish, birds, wild geese, and ducks, and also home to a great number of lotus, ti plants, etc. The locals make a living by harvesting the fauna and flora of the lake.

Buses from Baoding Passenger Transport Company go directly to the scenic spots. Tourists can first take buses from other places to Anxin County, then from there take tourist buses to the lake dock. The bus ticket costs 1 RMB and the bus leaves for the lake every 5 minutes.

Small to medium sized groups can rent hand-driven and motorized boats; Large groups can hire a tour guide and motor boats.
There are local restaurants and hotels on the islands on the lake. The restaurants cook with local ingredients and hotels are inexpensive for tourists for the overnight stay.
