[edit] Description

Jinggangshan Mountain is located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, near the border with Hunan. This remote region is known as "the cradle of China's revolution" in the first half of last century. In August 1927, late Chinese leader, Mao Zedong, along with other communist leaders, proposed that the poor peasants fill the role of revolutionary vanguard. He established the first rural revolutionary base here, and started a new chapter in Chinese history.

In 1934, the People's Liberation Army troops fled here from Nanchang and started the epic Long March (1934-1936). Mao Zedong's group advanced on a circuitous route through some of China's harshest regions, finally arriving in the little town of Yan'an, northern Shaanxi.

More than 80 years have passed since the Communist revolution in China, nearly every Chinese citizen who visits Jinggangshan Mountain today still has a huge amount of respect for those who pioneered the fight and spent their hardest days there. In the minds of the Chinese people, Jinggangshan is not only the birth place of China's revolution, but also stands for a spirit that has inspired generations of nationals.

As a top tourist attraction, Jinggangshan offers stunning scenery and quaint villages. Wuzhi (Five Fingers) Peak is home to many animals and plants. There are five waterfalls falling into five pools within one and half miles' of the Wushen River.
