Short Description: Inscription and petroglyph of Qingshui Rock covers an area of 20 squares which revolves Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties to modern times. Most of calligraphy is Kaishu and Xingshu. The inscription painting of Song dynasty is most valuable, which is a panoramic inscription of Qingshui rocks embossment, and it’s also a peculiar ancient “Tourist Map”.

As National 4A level scenic spot and provincial-level culture relics, Qingshui Rock is a tourist attraction and religious shrine, located on Penglai Mountain, 15 kilometers northwest from the Anxi County suburb, the hometown of the Iron Buddha Tea. Covering a total area of 11.1 square kilometers with the peak reaching the altitude of 767 meters, it consists of the temple and pilgrimage zone, Praying for rain ecological zone, Qinshan Recreation zone and memorial zone. With convenience of transportation, it is about 70 kilometers from Quanzhou, 100 kilometers from Xiamen and 120 kilometers from Zhangzhou. The existing temple was built after 1966 and Qingshui Rock is the burial place of Qingshui master monk, a famous monk in Song dynasty. There is a belief of Qingshui master monk has a wide influence in the Southern Fujian Province, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries. In Taiwan alone, there are over 200 temples named Qingshui Rock.

Since ancient times, Qingshui Rock has been attracting tourists at home and aboard with its 42 natural wonders. There are many stories and myths concerning the stone scenes and towering old trees. An old camphor tree called “Facing North”is so big that it takes six to seven persons to hold its trunk. It is said that when the old tree heard that the patriotic general Yuefei was killed by the treacherous official Qinhui, it held out all its branches to the north to pay its homage to Yue.

Quanzhou belongs to subtropical monsoonal climate, which leans upon the mountain and faces to the sea. The May and June is rainy season, and winter is short and not very cold. The annual average temperature is 18℃ to 20℃. The best time for traveling there is April to November.
